A NASCO working group that included experts from across the North Atlantic region met in autumn 2025 to produce the new and improved NASCO Guidelines for salmon habitat management, which will be a valuable resource for those working to save wild Atlantic salmon. The recommendations have been updated to address NASCO’s Ten-Year Strategy and associated Action Plan, which outlined objectives for the appropriate jurisdictions (national, regional and local) that have responsibilities for activities involving salmon habitat.
The new ‘Guidelines for the Protection, Restoration and Improvement of Atlantic Salmon Habitat’, CNL(26)56, were agreed by Council at the Forty-Third Annual Meeting of NASCO.
